Subject Choice Assessments

Subject Choice is important in providing learners and their parents with information regarding further study at the tertiary level and future career development.  Valuable information pertaining to potential, aptitude, personality, interests, values, and study habits provide insight into possible interventions that might be required to develop certain of these areas within an individual. Also, these assessments provide information to guide a learner in choosing a suitable future career path that aligns with who they are.  Subject Choice assessments are aimed at assisting learners in Grade 9 with their subject selection for the Further Education and Training (FET) phase, Grades 10 to 12. Recommendations may also be made for the consideration of technical and vocational education and training (TVET), through the completion of a National Certificate: Vocational (NCV) at a TVET college.  This service includes an intake (initial consultation), assessment and feedback session.  The intake and feedback session are held with parents and the service further includes a comprehensive report consisting of results and recommendations, with consideration of the learner’s aptitude, potential, interest and personality profile, career values, and study orientation.
